Born out of necessity, nurtured by desire.
We were struggling with infertility and at a loss. We had spent $16,000 on invasive testing, supplements, and everything else short of IVF or IUI. We decided to let go and let God. That’s when Dr. Shanna Swan entered our lives, and we decided to participate in a study that tracked plastic exposure and its link to infertility. You can watch our journey in the documentary, The Plastic Detox, on Netflix!
Born out of necessity, nurtured by desire.
We are Jesse and Darby. Small scale urban farmers passionate about
toxin free living and leaving the Earth better than we entered it for
each generation to come. For the first 3 years of marriage we
struggled with infertility and loss. We spent a large portion of our time
and money on invasive testing, supplements, and everything else
short of IVF or IUI. We had both been raised “crunchy” eating organic, natural foods, caring for our health and our wellbeing with diet and exercise; but my body could not stay pregnant. That’s when Dr. Shanna Swan entered our lives, and we decided to participate in a study that tracked plastic exposure and its link to infertility. You can watch our journey in the documentary, The Plastic Detox, on Netflix!

The Intervention
We spent 3 months:
Swapping personal care products, fragrances, and foods that contain plastic for natural alternatives
Filtering our water and refusing plastic bottles, cans, and to-go cups
Avoiding touching any receipt paper
Wearing natural fibers
Utilizing nontoxic household cleaners
The Results
After strict adherence to the protocol, and a ton of prayer, we were blessed
with a son the week the documentary aired on Netflix! We truly believe that God works miracles through human hands and that we are called to do our
part by being good stewards of our bodies. We attribute this miracle first to
faith and within that recognize the need for humanity to work in harmony with
nature in order to be receptive to the miracle of life.
We have compiled all of the resources, swaps, and knowledge we acquired while limiting our plastic exposure and healing our infertility. Now we want to share them with you!

The best part of reducing exposure is that it doesn’t cost to use less. Start by
eliminating those items that we have all been sold to fix a problem that didn’t
need fixing. Beauty is natural and health isn’t found on the shelves. That’s
why we offer the true necessities we swapped in our home that helped bring
our chemical levels from above the national average to nearly ZERO.
We do our best to source everything in this shop from the USA as a conscious
effort to limit environmental impact from shipping and to honor ethical material
sourcing and working conditions to protect the dignity of human life.
Here you’ll find swaps for products that fit your ethics and your needs without compromising your values or your daily routine. Tips for safer food sourcing, healthy homemaking, and our top picks for Low Tox Living.
